This collaborative effort spans the entire Building Approval process, from initial engagement through the construction phrases, to practical completion, with the ultimate goal of obtaining the final occupancy certificate.
Our team’s proficiency extends to an in-depth understanding of the National Constructions Code (NCC), referenced Australian Standards, along with various other regulations relating to ACT and NSW Planning.
Meet The Team

Ashil's journey began in Fiji and took root in Auckland, New Zealand, where he built a foundation of practical skill. Starting as a highly skilled carpenter with a Certificate in Carpentry, he simultaneously mastered the art of connection and creativity as a successful full-time DJ.
Committed to excellence, he strategically completed an Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying. This potent combination of on-site grit and specialized compliance knowledge perfectly positioned him for his current role as a Trainee Certifier with ACT Certification in Canberra. Today, Ashil offers a rare blend of in-depth practical understanding and specialized compliance expertise, delivering exceptional value and an unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
Outside of work, Ashil is dedicated to his family and his "fur kids," whom he often takes on exciting outdoor adventures, reflecting his love for travel. He also expresses his creativity through cooking and indulging his passion for music.

Scott is the Managing Director and Head Certifier of ACT Certification. He is a born and bred Canberran who started his career in the Canberra construction industry as an apprentice carpenter before obtaining his Class C Building qualification.
Looking to further his understanding of the construction industry Scott put down the tools and commenced a traineeship as a Building Surveyor (Certifier). Scott who is a licensed General Building Surveyor (Certifier) now owns and leads the team here at ACT Certification.
When Scott isn’t being a Building Certifier, he is a husband, and father who loves his rugby, AFL and V8 Motorsport.
Scott is incredibly passionate about what he does, and the role he plays in assisting our clients through the construction and building approval process.

Alex is our General Manager. Anything business management related is where Alex feels most at home.
Having spent 12 years working for the ACT Government in various business support and Business Manager roles, from dealing with elite sportspeople, to being the Business Manager of a local primary school. Alex brings to the team a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing a business to ensure its ultimate success.
Alex holds a Masters of Business Administration, and a Bachelor qualification in sport/tourism/event management, and loves to organise everyone and everything!
It won't surprise you by looking at her surname that she and Scott are a husband and wife team, owning and running ACT Certification while they raise their two children.

Frank has been with the team at ACT Certification since the start of 2022. He has a carpentry background and holds a Certificate in Building and Construction, having worked for numerous Canberra builders over the years developing his knowledge of the residential construction industry. Most recently Frank has spent a number of years as a Property Inspector where his ability to provide exceptional attention to detail was further developed.
He is extremely passionate about what he does, specialising in technical detailing and compliance for residential projects.
When Frank isn’t supporting our clients through the building approval process, he is enjoying time with his wife and kids, and his extended Italian family, enjoying time down the South Coast and making home-made salami!

Jack joined ACT Certification at the end of 2021 as our Building Assessment Officer where he provides technical support and conducts plan assessments for our clients. Commencing his career as a qualified carpenter Jack then went on to study a Diploma in Building and Construction and has completed a Diploma of Building and Design.
In 2023 Jack took the first step in becoming a qualified Building Certifier, and became ACT Certification’s first Trainee Building Certifier. Jack is passionate about furthering his knowledge of building certification and looks forward supporting our clients through the Building Approval process.

Jack joins the team at ACT Certification with a background in fitness as a personal trainer, but has a passion for being a part of our family run business. Because yes, he is in fact the younger brother of our Managing Director Scott. Aside from working with his brother and Sister in Law, Jack is loving learning the ropes about all things Building Approvals and Compliance advice.

Tegan is our Client Services Officer and she's the first person you will likely speak with when you contact our team for assistance. Tegan supports our team of technical professionals with all things administration, and has the joyful task of managing our inspection booking jigsaw puzzle!
Tegan has a background of working in both the construction and medical industries, and has a real passion for helping to keep the wheels turning for a company in the often unglamorous area of business administration support.
It won’t shock you to know (because Canberra is such a small place), that Tegan, Scott and Alex all went to the same College here in Canberra.

Michael is our Customer Support Officer, and the person who all our clients will have the pleasure of getting to know, as he is the first member of our team that you will speak with when you reach out to us for support. For the past 10 years Michael has been working for a local Canberra based drafting company as a Building Designer preparing drawings for Development and Building Approvals – so he knows a thing or two about Building Certification.
Outside of work Michael pretty much lives all things Cricket, so when you next contact the office be sure to ask Michael for his review of Australian teams recent summer test series – we are 100% sure he’d be happy to chat!

Kian is a local Canberran completing a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at the University of South Australia.
His career so far has developed a strong understanding of project delivery processes, building compliance, and operational maintenance across both public and private sectors. Passionate about the future of the built environment, Kian aims to expand his expertise in building surveying.
Outside of work, he enjoys endurance running, paragliding, and outdoor exploration pursuits.

Ronald is our behind-the-scenes powerhouse. As our Customer Support Officer Ronald directly supports our team of Project Administrators to ensure that the documentation and administrative requirements for our projects are completed, and they get off to the ACT Government as quickly as possible. Ronald worked in the local Canberra Building Certification industry for several years prior to starting with ACT Certification.
When Ronald isn’t keeping the wheels turning with processing all things building approvals, he loves his outdoor photography and belting out a tune to anything jazz, pop or gospel!
